It is a little known fact but there are certain breeds of dogs that people consider to be hypoallergenic. You would imagine then that these breeds would be of the short haired kind but you would be wrong. Not all of these dogs are of the short haired kind at all such as Yorkshire terrier or even the Afghan hound. Both these breeds of dogs are relatively safe for people that suffer from allergies.

Do not be fooled into thinking that this also means that these dogs will not shed any hair or dander in you house. Unfortunately this is not the case. Dogs always shed hair and dander and you must always keep on top of it to prevent any possibility of allergic reactions.
As most people are aware it is not the hair of the dogs that causes the allergic reactions for many sufferers, it is the pet dander that eventually comes off with the hair that is the root of the problem.
So now you know what causes the allergic reactions it is no good you looking for dogs with short hair or medium hair as pets because you think that these will affect your allergy less than others.
If you can find a dog that sheds less dander then this would be the perfect choice for any allergy sufferers.
