Healthy Diet For Women In Pre Menopause

May 15, 2010 · Filed Under Women Interest

Menopause affects every woman. Premature menopause symptoms (or early menopause symptoms) may include irregular periods or hot flashes. Menopause happens because the woman’s ovary stops producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Menopause is a natural process that occurs as a woman’s ovaries stop producing eggs, and production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone declines. During this transition time, called perimenopause, menstrual periods become more irregular and begin to taper off.

Menopause is the time in a woman’s life when the function of the ovaries ceases. The ovary (female gonad), is one of a pair of reproductive glands in women. Menopause, when it occurs after the age of 40, is considered “natural” and is a normal part of aging. But, some women can experience menopause early, either as a result of surgery, such as hysterectomy, or damage to the ovaries, such as from chemotherapy. And if you’ve lived and learned from menopause, share your wisdom here.

Psychological symptoms may include anxiety, depression, tearfulness, irritability, sleeplessness, less desire for sex, lack of concentration and more trouble remembering things. There’s no longer any reason to accept the symptoms of menopause, or to just put up with them; DON’T PAUSE can help you regain your life. This phase is marked by changes in the menstrual cycle, along with other physical and emotional symptoms. This pre-menopause phase can actually last up to 10 years and during this time a woman can experience a number of symptoms that are usually associated with menopause.

These symptoms of menopause and perimenopause are discussed in detail below. Other symptoms include breast tenderness, headaches, backaches, impaired concentration and focus, and food cravings. Most women figure they just have to live with it. Interestingly, if the woman struggled with Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), then chances of her being faced with many of the same symptoms during pre-menopause are likely. A woman will also find that menopause often causes a decrease of interest in sex.

With a proper diet, nutritional supplements can help most of the unpleasant side effects of menopause can be reduced if not eliminated. Many women are turning to a natural drug free approach for help in easing hot flashes, cramps and mood swings, and more. There are also many other menopause treatments optional for the women who want to control the menopause symptoms. Yet, some women still worry about what will happen and what they should do when menopause arrives. Women may experience a wide range of feelings, from anxiety and discomfort, to release and relief.

The production of estrogen and progesterone does not stop completely at menopause. The ovaries and adrenal glands (located on top of the kidneys) continue to produce androstenedione, a hormone that is converted into estrogen. Additional early menopause symptoms and signs could be mood swings or depression, water retention, fibrocystic breasts and sleep disturbances. Occasionally there is menopause weight gain or weight loss. Black Cohosh is also a known extract which alleviates symptoms associated with menopause. Damaiana on the other hand, is a shrub that is historically known to be used as an aphrodisiac, and claimed to induce euphoria, but is actually an anxiety reliever, and induces not euphoria, but relaxation.
